The free fall of the growth trajectory in the country isn’t a new phenomenon, and this isn’t the first time it has been happening since India opened its doors to world trade and globalization in the year 1991 which was very well known as the inflection point for our economy at a global level also known as the Liberalization Privatization Globalization (LPG) reforms. When tethering with the market forces on the extent of engaging them and reneging with the light of constructive dialogue, there are slight miscalculations that have always accumulated into forming pockets of inflation or halting the growth in the country.

In the past year, the growth recession facing the Indian economy has played the good charade of keeping the subtle numbers at a healthy 5% which though low by our standards, stands out in the global front as one of the fastest-growing economies of the world for precisely one reason and that is the slowdown in the domestic market or consumption market has been partly driven by the global sentiments of a consumer and the lack of growth in the income segment which has driven the economy into the possibility of stagflation and import-based inflation.

The retail brick and mortar shops have been feeling the pinch of this for some time now, but post-below-average festival season and the winters coming in too late and too dull to bloom the orchards of their businesses, the retail owners have advanced their order books to get into the green before the expected price hike to earn on the differential and have a strong inventory to lure back the customers to this segment.
