Due to technological advancements, patients at the Blessing Health Systems Hospitals in Quincy or Pittsfield can have access to their health information using their phones.
Blessing Hospitals have collaborated with healthcare information technology company Allscripts to create an app that allows the patients to view their health information through the Apple Health records.
The Blessing Health System’s Chief Information Officer, Lea Ann Eickelschulte shared that they were particularly very excited about their new collaboration with the Apple Health records. He further added that this innovation has helped them create a better experience for their patients. When patients view their own health records, they have a much better understanding of their overall health and have access to their medical history which can be used at other hospitals as well.
The Apple Health app enables people to view their available health data and medical history from multiple providers whenever they choose. This app is available for iPhone users running IOS 13.1 or higher.
Previously, the health information of an individual was available on the provider’s websites however, it was all scattered and had to be put together manually which was hectic and time-consuming. Due to the collaboration between Apple and Health care community, users are now able to find all their required health information in one place only a tap away in their phone.
Now patients will have all their medical information in one place including allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures, and vitals. The patients will also receive notifications whenever their data is updated. Furthermore, patients need not be worried regarding the security of their medical information and data as it is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone password, Touch ID and face ID.
