Smart City Expo Atlanta is defining the meaning of a “smart city” again

Today, Smart City Expo Atlanta in alliance with Fira De Barcelona, made an announcement about their debut from 11th till 13th September’2019 at GWCC. This expo will be a platform of gathering together all the inspiring leaders from corporations, entrepreneurial and nonprofits sectors and government to define the meaning of “smart city” again. Discussions will be held regarding how human capital, economic & social mobility are being given priority in the ‘smart city.

Mayor of the City of Atlanta, Keisha Lance said: “I am thrilled to welcome Fira de Barcelona to host the first U.S.-based Smart City Expo in Atlanta. The focus on cutting-edge technologies, smart city innovation, and equity and inclusion directly align with our One Atlanta vision of affordability, resiliency, and fairness. We look forward to hosting cross-sector leaders from around the globe to this internationally-recognized summit.”

More light on this subject was shed by the International Business Director of Fira de Barcelona, Ricard “Atlanta is on an accelerated path to becoming a model for Smart Cities across the country. As cities prepare for a paradigm shift, we need to redefine how they operate as complex ecosystems and reshape them to really become “smart” environments where technology, inclusion, and sustainability develop livable metropolises that offer their inhabitants the best possible place to live, work and thrive.”

Moreover, statement was also passed by the CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Hala Moddelmog, which said: “Building on our work to promote the region as a world-class destination for events, we are pleased that Metro Atlanta was selected to host Fira de Barcelona’s inaugural Smart Cities Conference in the U.S. We relish the opportunity to showcase how technology can create more equitable and inclusive communities. This event will demonstrate the many ways that metro Atlanta’s business and community leaders are committed to helping solve some of the most challenging issues for our region and the world at large.”

The number of attendees anticipated to attend exceeds twenty-five hundred, whereas nearly two hundred speakers and fifty exhibitors are expected at the expo.
